Safety Harbor Public Library’s summer reading programs for all ages begins Monday, June 3 and runs through Saturday, August 3. This year’s theme, Adventure Begins at Your Library, highlights the library's role as a springboard for exploration and discovery. Whether you're seeking to develop a new skill, embark on a virtual journey through a captivating novel, or chart a course for your next real-world adventure, the library provides the resources and inspiration to fuel your imagination.
SHPL encourages children, tweens, and teens to maintain their reading habits throughout the summer by participating in the library's reading programs. Participants can log their reading hours to earn exciting prizes for reaching designated milestones. All participating youth will be entered into a grand prize drawing at the program's conclusion. Reading will be tracked using Beanstack, a reading tracker app, and prizes will be awarded after each milestone is reached.
Adults are invited to join a community reading challenge, aiming to collectively read 600 books throughout the summer. This collaborative effort fosters a sense of connection and shared accomplishment. Books read will also be logged using Beanstack and prizes awarded every other week, with a grand prize drawing at the end. Visit our Reading Programs page for more information on our summer reading programs and how to create an account with Beanstack.
We will also be holding a Library Card Travels Contest from June 3 to August 3! To participate, take a picture with your PPLC library card while traveling, near or far. For full contest rules and to submit an entry, visit the contest submission page.
