The Community Development Department is responsible for ensuring that land use, building, and infrastructure activities comply with the city's adopted plans, codes and specifications.
The department is actively involved in:
Building and site plan review
Code inspections and enforcement
Comprehensive and strategic planning
Natural resource protection
The department also oversees the planning, design, and implementation of the city’s capital improvements program based on the priorities established in the adopted budget.
The Community Development Department provides professional expertise and assistance to the:
Planning and Zoning Board (which also serves as the Downtown Redevelopment Board and Historic Incentives Board)
Community Redevelopment Agency
Board of Appeals
Code Enforcement Board
