summer, hello August! In between back-to-school and the lead up to
autumn, stop in at your SHPL for some great programs.
Youth
(Ages 0-18) - Our year-round reading programs, 1000
Books Before Kindergarten, 100 Books
Before High School, and 100 Books before
Graduation, continue - log your reading in Beanstack
(safetyharborlibrary.beanstack.org) to earn some great prizes! Read with
royalty during our Princess Story Time Party (ages 8 and under) on August 1, bring the whole family along to learn All About Bees on August 2 where you'll get to
see a live hive with 2,000 bees, then join us on August 5 for Avian and Amphibians with Safari Savvy (ages
5-16) and pet some live animals!
Adults -
We have two incredible author talks scheduled this month: True crime author Patti McCracken will be here on August 10 to
discuss her first book, The Angel Makers:
Arsenic, a Midwife, and Modern History's Most Astonishing Murder Ring,
and local author Micki Berthelot Morency will discuss her debut novel, The Island
Sisters, with Laura Kepner on August 17. We also have an Ukulele JamALONG celebrating Elvis Presley on
August 16 and the Library Foundation's Totally
80s Prom on August 26 at the Safety Harbor Community Center. The
Saturday Movie Matinee this month is The Sunlit Night (NR, 2019) starring Jenny Slate, Alex Sharp,
and Fridtjov Såheim on August 26.
