August 2021 Newsletter

Summer is just flying by! Sunday is August 1st, and we have a few events that finish up our Tails & Tales Summer Reading Programs. 
 
Youth (ages 5-18) - Don't forget to submit your best animal photo for our Youth Animal Photography Contest. Deadline is August 7. You could win a $25 gift card! Grab & Go Crafts, an outdoor story time with local author/yogi Susan Rose on August 7, American Girl Doll and LEGO Star Wars Raffles, and a Happy Little Painting Take Home Kit (teen) are also on the programming calendar.
 
Adults - Busting Hurricane Myths will take place on August 12, Tech Tutoring is back (call to make an appointment), we have a Saturday movie showing of What They Had (2018, R) on August 28, and Music & More from the Land Down Under (a didgeridoo concert) is scheduled for August 19.

Library Hours Expanding

In other news....our library hours are expanding! Starting the week of August 1 our hours will be:

Monday - Thursday - 9:30 am to 8:00 pm
Friday - 9:30 am to 6:00 pm
Saturday - 9:30 am to 5:00 pm

Longer hours means more time for book browsing, more time for studying, more time for computer use, more time for exploring the youth departments. 

E-Library

Don't forget - our E-Library is ALWAYS open (you know, just in case it's the middle of the night and you desperately need something to read/watch/learn).

OverDrive and Libby, a simpler version of Overdrive, allow access to digital Books, Audiobooks, Magazines, & Video on your favorite device, 24/7. Apps are available for Android, iOS, Kindle Fire, Nook Tablet, and PC/Mac. 

New York Times Digital Edition allows you to enjoy unlimited articles on NYTimes.com and in the New York Times app. You will need to create an account using our redemption link, and access will be valid for 24 hours. You can redeem access an unlimited amount of times using the same link and logging into your account.

hoopla digital provides online and mobile access to thousands of movies, TV shows, music, audiobooks, eBooks and comic books. Apps are available for Apple, Android, Amazon, Chromecast, Apple TV, Android TV, Fire TV, and Roku. For assistance: Hoopla Help.

Pronunciator is an online language-learning service that covers over 100 languages, including English as a Second Language (ESL). It focuses on building conversational skills using interactive online drills, quizzes, downloadable audio lessons and phrasebooks.

Miss Humblebee's Academy is a fun, interactive, and award-winning, online kindergarten-readiness learning solution for children ages 3 to 6. With hundreds of lessons in Math, Science and Social Studies, Language and Literacy, Art, and Music, the curriculum increases in difficulty as the user progresses through the program. Miss Humblebee’s Academy can be accessed at the library, home, or on-the-go via smart phones, iPads, and tablets.
