Celebrate National Poetry Month with the Safety Harbor Public Library by creating an Acrostic Poem.
Acrostic poems spell out a name, word, or phrase with the first letter of each line of the poem. They can rhyme or not and, typically, the word spelled out lays down the theme of the poem.
For Example:
Books, yes, but also DVDs!
Oh, and instruments!
Of course, you can't forget the tools!
Kits as well! They’re filled with all sorts.
Safety Harbor has the best library!
The contest is open to all ages. Entries will be judged in separate age categories for Child (8 and under), Tween (9-12), Teen (13-18), and Adult (19+).
Submit your entry here starting Monday, March 27. All entries must be submitted by 11:59PM on Saturday, April 22.
Winners will be determined for each age category and awarded gift cards to local Safety Harbor businesses.
Winning poems will be announced at the Library's 85th Birthday Celebration on Wednesday, April 26 at 4:00 pm.
