StoryWalk®

Safety Harbor joined the StoryWalk® movement in December 2020, a project to promote early literacy and family time together in nature. StoryWalk® is an innovative and fun way for children and adults to enjoy reading under the shade of the oaks in the Art Park, even when the Library is closed.

During the early months of COVID in 2020, temporary StoryWalks® were installed using recycled political signs. The community support was so positive, we wanted a stable solution. Sixteen permanent posts, each with a page from a children’s book are now located the park behind the Library.

Safety Harbor is one now one of the 300+ StoryWalk® locations in the United States and 13 countries. This project was made possible with donations from the Safety Harbor Library Foundation and Friends of the Library. Books are changed out monthly, keeping in step with holidays and celebrations.
