Save Our Bay Kickoff EventMayor Joe Ayoub and Oldsmar Mayor Eric Seidel have joined together to promote Save Our Bay – a new program that encourages residents and businesses to help clean up the waters of Upper Tampa Bay. In partnership with Tampa Bay Watch, the ???????? ?????? ?????? ?????????????? ???????? ???????????????????? ???????????? ???? ????????????????, ???????????????? ???? ???? ??:???? ??.??. ???? ?????? ???????? ?????????????? ???? ??.??. ???????? ????????, located at 107 Shore Drive West in Oldsmar. The kick-off event involves creating Vertical Oyster Gardens to hang from private docks. “According to a water quality report provided by Tampa Bay Watch, our upper Tampa Bay waters are the least healthy of the entire bay,” stated Oldsmar Mayor Eric Seidel. “Upon hearing this information, I reached out to the Tampa Bay Estuary Program and learned of the benefits of Vertical Oyster Gardens. A healthy oyster can filter up to 50 gallons of water a day, which will help clean our bay through these sustainable efforts.”
Staff will provide supplies for participants to string oyster shells on rope materials, which will attract live oysters to attach and grow the oyster garden.
“Safety Harbor is excited to be participating in the Save Our Bay Mayor’s Challenge,” stated Safety Harbor Mayor Joe Ayoub. “We are looking forward to the good this program will do for our bay!”
