Additional Homestead Exemption for Qualifying Seniors

In November 2016, The City of Safety Harbor City Commission adopted an ordinance amending the senior homestead exemption to

include an additional homestead exemption for low-income seniors who maintain long-term residency on their property.

If the owner meets the age and low-income requirement for the Senior Exemption, the owner may also qualify for the additional

exemption of up to 100% of the assessed value of the property if the just value of the property is less than $250,000 and the property

has been the owner’s permanent residence for at least 25 years.
